Tammy Godette, BS, AT, CMT, CNMT
Tammy Godette, BS, AT, CMT, CNMT I have a bachelor’s degree in Biology which I achieved in 1997 and became a certified athletic trainer in 1999. I have had extensive training in anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, muscle testing and function, and treatment, rehabilitation, and evaluation of sports injuries. I have used my knowledge and skills in college and high school settings, treating athletes.
I have worked in clinical settings, treating and rehabilitating people of all ages, races, religions, and creeds. This is where I realized that I have a gift. I would do some very basic massage on patients at the clinic and would have tremendous results. I worked on a patient who was coming three times a week for months and had no pain after one 15 minute session with me. Another patient had almost lost his lower extremity and was in severe pain. I was the only one who was able to give him relief. That is when I decided to go to massage school.
I did my research and found an excellent nationally ranked school. It took eleven rigorous months to complete my schooling. It was the hardest and most rewarding year of my life. When I started school I had a baby daughter who was four months old and a full time athletic training job. Deciding to become a Massage Therapist was the best decision I have ever made for myself and my family. It is a wonderful profession for Mothers that want the ability to control their own schedule so that they are able to care for their children. I now have a son and another daughter and my husband and I have made it our number one priority to be the ones to raise our children. I graduated from the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy in October of 2002. I am certified in trigger point release, Swedish massage, ROM techniques, and sports massage. I also have a certification in Neuromuscular Therapy from the International Association of Neuromuscular Therapies (IANMT). I predominately use this massage method. I am also able to provide myofascial release and stretching and exercises. I am a member of the AMTA. I have had my own business for six years. Within the last five years, I have found great joy and peace in giving relief to others through therapeutic touch. I know that my skill is physically beneficial (I still find myself in awe- “wow, this stuff really works!”). The techniques really work for release of muscle tension, tight bands, and trigger points, but I wasn’t quite prepared for the understanding I have now. I have come to realize that I not only affect the soft tissues and systems of the body, but people as a whole, and the people around them. I am a facilitator of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Clients have said that they are able to be a better Mom, or were able do their jobs without pain, after my treatments. I can truly say that “I love my job!”
